As a young entrepreneur launching my first business, I hired a developer to build my website. Like many first-time ventures, the business wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped, but it taught me invaluable lessons about marketing, branding, and the importance of investing wisely. A few years later, I developed my second business concept. This time, I needed a far more advanced website. When I requested quotes, they started at around R18,000—a significant investment in 2015. Having experienced the cost of outsourcing before, I decided to take a different path: I would learn to build it myself.
What began as a necessity quickly became a passion.
